“My music is a bit of everything you like…like walking into a lush 7-star buffet – you take what you like based on how you’re feeling in the moment.” – GoldKay

Nana Kay Agyekum, professionally known as GoldKay (previously known as Gold Kay), is an up and coming, Ghanaian born, UK afrobeats artist from South East London. From the age of 11, the music artist discovered his passion for songwriting and music production from his older brother. However, it wasn’t until a couple of years later that he discovered that he was vocally talented. By the time he was in college, GoldKay had begun DJ’ing in various genres such as Dancehall, RnB, Rap, and Hip-hop, which is expressed as undertones in his current afrobeats dance music style. Before stepping into his solo career, GoldKay was a member of the renowned British choir group, Gospel Singers Incognito, who have accumulated over 30 million views since their debut on series 7 of Britain’s Got talent back in 2013. Accordingly, popular TV programs also featured to Uk Afrobeat Artist, including BBC All Together Now Show, Channel 4’s Celebrity Come Dine with Me, and Sky 1’s A League of Their Own. He has had the opportunity of performing in front of significant audiences across the globe, including the US, South Africa, and Europe. The music artist was recently awarded the prestigious Ghana Music Award for Best UK-based Afrobeat Artist for his single titled “Bluffin,” Featuring Kuami Eugene in 2018. GoldKay has also supplied backing vocals such as Dappy (N-Dubz), the Crazy Cousins, and Jaz Ellington from BBC One’s The Voice.

Since his re-branding, GoldKay has released three new and trendy Afrobeat dance single’s titled “Party,” “Your Love,” and “Like That” this year alone that have gained massive traction online. With a unique fusion of African and Caribbean influence, there is no doubt that this artist is one to keep on your radar in the next couple of years. His musical talent and industry accomplishments aside, the UK Afrobeat artist is cool, calm, and collected with the right amount of humour and authentic confidence. It is clear that GoldKay has remained humble throughout his journey and has his heart in the right place.

The artist does not view his success in terms of money but instead creates music that inspires his audience’s lives and by being able to give back to his family and support his community in South London & Ghana. There is no doubt that GoldKay is a breath of fresh air in the music industry. The UK Afrobeat artist plans to continue releasing music to perfect his new sound and showcase who he is as a solo-artist throughout 2021, with the hopes of releasing an EP shortly after.
